GREEN ROOF
In a world where we need to be conscious of improving our urban spaces and increasing greenery to help improve both air quality and biodiversity, there is an unused space that is perfect for doing so. . . our roof tops.
Space can be at a minimum in built up areas such as towns and cities, so by using green roofs, we can maximise planting in our urban areas.
Our green roof is an easy, instant system packed with a variety of sedum plants, pre grown and ready to install onto your roof, suitable for both small and large scale projects, from homes, sheds and garden rooms to inner city rooftops on large buildings providing a fast solution for instant greenery.
Besides looking great, there are many other benefits to installing a green roof on your building project or home.
Some of the benefits of installing a green roof are:
-
The green roof cassettes have a water retention of 20 litres per square metre meaning they are great for buildings in areas prone to flood.
-
Sedum plants help to increase biodiversity providing a habitat for insects etc which is great for urban and city areas.
-
They provide instant greenery in urban areas improving aesthetics.
-
Provide protection of the existing roof against UV radiation, solar heat and rain fall, increasing the longevity of the existing roof.
-
The sedum cassettes have an insulating effect which helps to improve efficiency of solar panels.
-
Green Roofs reduce the urban heat island effect. The urban heat island effect is when structures such as buildings, and roads etc absorb and re-emit the sun’s heat more than areas of natural landscapes such as forests and countryside. Urban areas and cities, where buildings are highly concentrated with less green areas, become “islands” with higher temperatures. In large cities such as London, this can be up to 7° during warmer months. Large building surfaces will both reflect and radiate solar energy within a built up area, which does not dissipate fully overnight. A green roof will absorb some of this heat and evaporation of water from plants and soil helps to cool the air and humidify which lowers the temperature.
-
Ready for use, pre grown and simple to install.
-
Instant greenery helping to 'green up' urban areas.
-
The sedum plants are low maintenance.
-
6-8 types Sedum making up the cassettes.
-
Certified sustainable production.
-
The system is fully recyclable.
As well as the above benefits, adding a green roof to your building can also help with your planning application as many Local authorities favour proposals incorporating a green roof within it's design, as most councils have initiatives in improving the local environment.
