Incorporating Biophilic Elements For Workplace Social Distancing

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

As the UK gradually returns to work, both employers and indeed workplace and office designers as well as restaurant and bar designers will need to incorporate social distancing measures for the safety and the well being of staff.

Designers are of course aware that including biophilic elements including plants can increase well being, improve productivity and decrease pollutants in the air, but now, with social distancing in mind, there are ways that planting can be used creatively to designate and separate work areas within an office space.

Live Divider Screens

Our live dividers are essentially a free standing living wall which can be used to screen areas of an office or workplace to safely distance and define areas whilst retaining an 'open plan' feel. The live divider has an integrated watering system so no water pumps or electrics are needed, meaning they can be placed anywhere within the office, and once filled with plants on both sides of the screen, they contribute to cleaner air and a healthier working environment.

  • Patented system free standing living wall

  • Made with easy to change plant cassette inserts

  • Integrated watering system

  • No watering pump or electric power is needed

  • Screens can be placed anywhere in the office or workplace

  • Water reservoir for 4-6 weeks

  • Fully recyclable

  • Planted on both sides of the screen

  • Easily define spaces whilst improving air quality as well as aesthetics

Living Green Screens

Our live are available with various plant species and in a choice of varying heights. They can be used to effectively create clear social markers in a public outdoor space, such as beer gardens, outside dining areas and commercial exterior spaces etc. Not only do they help to create a greener space, but they also reduce pollution by absorbing airborne particulates such as PM10.

The screens have a narrow profile and can be planted in individual trough planters to be used in sections to screen and define areas, or they can be planted directly into the ground.

Features

  • Can be installed all year round

  • Instant privacy

  • Narrow profile to help make best use of space

  • Choice of height options

  • Green alternative to wooden fencing

Benefits

  • Removes airborne pollutants

  • Creates a clear divide / social marker

  • Environmentally friendly / sustainable

  • Instant privacy

  • Contributes to a healthier environment

Barrier Planting

Another way to create social markers within a workspace or in a commercial outdoor space such as bars, restaurants, is simply with barrier planting. We can supply a range on barrier planters in a choice of colours and finishes as well as various sizes that can be supplied ready filled with artificial plants, preserved plants / moss or live plants which can be pre planted to minimise our time on site during installation.

Barrier / tall trough planters can be utilised to section areas of an office or public space without having to install a permanent structure.

Planters can also be used to create a main focal point of an interior design scheme whist acting as a divider between work space and breakout areas.

Use trough planters to effectively and clearly define seating areas outside restaurants, bars and pubs.
